How to Mute Certain Words, Certain Phrases, or Certain Hashtags on Your Computer:

Step #1: Click “Settings and privacy” on your profile’s left-hand drop menu

Step #2: Here, go for “Mute and block”

Step #3: Click  “Muted words” and follow “Add”

Step #4: Enter words, phrases, or hashtags that you want to mute one by one.

Step #5: Then, select  “Home timeline” if you want to mute certain words, certain phrases, or certain hashtags from your Twitter timeline

Step #6: If you want to mute certain words, certain phrases, or certain hashtags from your Notification, go for the “Notification” option there

Step #7: Then, specify the source of certain words, phrases, or hashtags’ source via selecting “From anyone” or “From only I don’t follow”

Step #8: Lastly, you need to specify the period you wish to block for. Under “For how long?” go for the option you want to mute for and click “Add”. That’s it!

How to Mute Certain Words, Certain Phrases, or Certain Hashtags on your Phone:

Step #1: Go to mobile.twitter.com.

Step #2: Tap the “profile icon”

Step #3:  Then, tab Setting and privacy”

Step #4: Here, go for “Mute and block”

Step #5: From the opening menu, “Muted words” and tab “+.”

Step #6: Add certain words, certain phrases, or certain hashtags you want to mute one by one like you do on a computer

Step #7: If you want to mute those words, phrases, or hashtags from your Twitter timeline, go for “Home timeline”

Step #8: If you want to mute those words, phrases, or hashtags from your “Notifications,” check the box next to it.

Step #9: Then, specify the source of certain words, phrases, or hashtags’ source via selecting “From anyone” or “From only I don’t follow”

Note: On mobile devices, you can specify this step only Twitter notifications only.

Step #10: Finally, choose one of the time options you would like to mute for;  “Forever,” “24 hours from now,” “7 days from now,” or “30 days from now” and tap “Save”. It is just easy!
